Measuring our cultural IQ
A new web-based tool for assessing an individual’s cultural competence could help corporations and government agencies predict whether or not an employee will be effective on an overseas assignment or a good leader or participant on a multicultural work team. The cultural-intelligence assessment software program is the result of a three-year project led by SFU Business professor David Thomas, author of Cultural Intelligence: People Skills for Global Business, involving researchers from 12 different countries (from Singapore to Israel). The researchers are meeting this week (Feb. 18/19) at SFU’s Segal Graduate School of Business and can be available for media interviews on the afternoon of Feb. 19.
Sue Anne Linde (to arrange interviews), 778.782.5038; sueannel@sfu.ca
