Prepare for electric shock

A new report released by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and penned by SFU adjunct professor John Calvert warns that, "BC Hydro customers can expect their electricity bills to escalate drastically in coming years." Calvert, an independent researcher specializing in energy policy analysis, is available to discuss his prediction that the government's ban on B.C. Hydro's development of new power generation projects will cause electricity bills to skyrocket. For the report see:

Al-Qaida eyes West - report

A secret British security intelligent report suggests that Al-Qaida leaders in Iraq are planning attacks against the British and other western targets, possibly with radioactive dispersal weapons. SFU political science professor Douglas Ross says: “We are not well prepared to cope quickly with the aftermath of such an attack, and lack adequate numbers of trained personnel able to isolate contaminated areas and begin the cleanup of any dispersed radioactive materials. There could be considerable panic — or stoic adaptation, coupled with demands for a far better response from government and the military.”
