Taser inquiry begins
An inquiry into the police use of tasers as well as the Oct. 14 tasering death of Robert Dziekanski is underway in Vancouver. SFU criminologist David MacAlister is currently carrying out research on law and policies governing taser use by the police. Robert Gordon, director of the school of criminology, can also provide comment. Criminologist Neil Boyd, who has previously commented on the issue, is currently in Ottawa talking about his report on the impact of Insite, Vancouver’s supervised safe injection site.
