SFU films scoop top prizes at Montreal film fest

Three for the money
Short films produced by SFU Contemporary Arts students claimed three of the six top prizes at the 39th Canadian Student Film Festival, part of the Montreal World Film Festival (Aug. 23-Sept. 1). North Vancouver native and 2008 SFU grad Tony Massil won Best Documentary for Forty Men for the Yukon, which will also be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival in early September. Pablo Alvarez, a recent SFU graduate who grew up in South America, won Best Experimental Film for Presidio Modelo. And Kelvin Redvers, a third-year student from Northwest Territories, won Best Fiction Production for Fire Bear Called Them Faith Healers.
