The federal conservatives made the first move Tuesday night, unveiling its latest political priorities in a throne speech. Fighting poverty, assisting the manufacturing sector and working toward a cleaner environment are at the top of the list. The NDP and the Bloc Quebecois plan to vote down the government’s new policy statement. If the Liberals make it a threesome the move would bring down Canada’s minority Conservative government and plunge the country into an election campaign. SFU political scientist Patrick Smith can comment on the throne speech.
