Zuma not a fait accompli
South Africa's ruling ANC elected leftist Jacob Zuma as its new leader yesterday, prompting many political observers to conclude the controversial populist leader will take over as the nation's president in 2009. That prospect makes investors nervous, but SFU political sociologist Heribert Adam says it is definitely not a foregone conclusion that Zuma, an ethnic Zulu, will become president and that "economic policy on the whole will continue as previously."

Winter fun for the little ones
What to do with the small fry when the folks have to be at work on Jan. 2 but school doesn't start until Jan. 7? Bring 'em up to Burnaby Mountain to take part in one of the entertaining and educational all-day camps offered by SFU Recreation and Athletics for kids ages five to 18. Sports, music, science--there's a bit of fun for everyone! For more on the camp offerings or to register, visit: http://students.sfu.ca/recreation/youth_program/camps/wintercamps/index.html
