Long-time SFU Business professor Daniel Shapiro is the newly appointed
dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Simon Fraser
University, effective Jan. 1.
Shapiro is well placed to provide strong leadership to the faculty, with more than 16 years at SFU Business, including terms as associate dean, director of executive programs and, most recently, as director of the CIBC Centre for Corporate Governance and Risk Management.
Shapiro is the Dennis F. Culver Executive MBA Alumni Professor. He teaches managerial economics in the Executive MBA program and has published extensively on the determinants of corporate performance, industrial structure and public policy.
Shapiro has also designed and delivered executive programs to managers in the private and public sectors in Canada and abroad, and has twice received the Canada Trust Excellence in Teaching Award.
Shapiro will serve as dean until August 31, 2009.
