The Gerontology Research Centre at Simon Fraser University is looking
for some outstanding senior leaders. And it's time to nominate them for
this year's Senior Leadership Award. The award recognizes the
contributions that British Columbia seniors make as volunteers in the
fields of education, social activism and community service related to
aging.
"With more and more people living longer and healthier lives, later life is becoming a time of meaningful, purposeful civic engagement," says GRC research associate Lillian Zimmerman. "Given the increased demand for health, social and other services that goes along with an aging population, it is important to recognize the contributions that seniors themselves are making to these fields."
You are invited to nominate any person age 65 or older who has provided exemplary voluntary service on behalf of their peers. Nominees must reside in BC.
Letters of nomination should include the name and contact information of both the nominator and nominee, and a summary of the nominee's contributions. Supporting letters and other documentations are welcome.
Nominations must be received by April 10, 2008. Send them to the SFU Leadership Award, Gerontology Research Centre, Simon Fraser University Vancouver, #2800 - 515 W. Hastings St., Vancouver, BC, V6B 5K3.
Awards will be presented at the 2008 Friesen conference in May.
