David Cox knows well the pressures of competing to be the best. The SFU sports psychologist has travelled to three Olympic games to lend his expertise to Canadian athletes, from tennis players to cross-country skiiers.

He also helps players in the world of business excel in the boardroom.

Cox is part of a panel of SFU psychologists who will explain their fields of research as part of the university’s annual Psych in the City free public lecture series.

The talks will run every Wednesday evening in April at 7 p.m. at SFU’s Surrey campus, 250 – 13450 – 102nd Ave, beginning April 9.

The first session will focus on social psychology. Talks will include Cox on how athletes and even business professionals can build peak performance.  Psychology professor Dennis Krebs will focus on  how we develop moral decision-making, while colleague Kim Bartholemew examines challenging views on partner abuse.
