What’s Happening at SFU Surrey, May - June

There's always lots going on at SFU Surrey. Several exciting new continuing studies courses are starting up, there’s a talk by Gordon Price on how Surrey can become a great and sustainable city and philosophers’ cafes on sex talk and unwinnable wars. Unless otherwise noted, all events take place at SFU’s Surrey campus at Central City, 13450 102 Ave., close to the Surrey Central SkyTrain Station.
Public Lectures and Talks:
- Mayors' Public Lecture: Planning for the Second Great City - May 30
PLANNING FOR THE SECOND GREAT CITY: Why what happens south of the Fraser will determine our future Gordon Price, Director of the SFU City Program, will talk about past actions and future visions. His lecture will show how most of the region came to be, what influenced its progress, and what possibilities and trade-offs need to be considered for a more sustainable future. And he will speculate on what issues will be debated by city councillors to come.
Reservations are not required for this free lecture, but seating is limited and early arrival is recommended. It takes place in the Westminster Savings Credit Union Theatre, Theatre 2600, mezzanine level and is presented in partnership with The City Program, SFU Continuing Studies.

Sex Talk: Why are we afraid to talk candidly about sex? What makes some cultures liberal while others remain somewhat suppressed in what they allow?

This course considers two aspects that are fundamental to supporting the project environment: the establishment of a Project Management Office (PMO), and the evaluation of project benefits defined in the business case.
