Simon Fraser University graduates are preparing to don caps and gowns June 5 - 8. With more than 3,500 students having made the grade, the university is adding another ceremony to its line-up.

A new Tuesday afternoon (2:30 pm.) ceremony will see convocation run over four days. Two ceremonies will be held on each of the next three days (Wed. – Fri.), beginning at 9:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Graduands will be led by the SFU pipe band past the AQ reflecting pond and down the steps into Convocation Mall.

The ceremonies will recognize students in the following fields of study:

Tuesday p.m.: Business Administration

Wednesday a.m.: Faculties of Science and Health Sciences

Wednesday p.m.: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, including anthropology, archaeology, Canadian studies, contemporary arts, French, geography, history, integrated studies, Latin American studies, liberal studies, political science, publishing, sociology, and women’s studies

Thursday a.m.: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, including economics, English, general studies, public policy and urban studies

Thursday p.m.: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, including cognitive science, criminology, gerontology, humanities, international leadership, linguistics, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, special arrangements, statistics

Friday a.m.: Faculty of Applied Sciences, including computing science, engineering science, general studies, geographic information science, information technology, information arts and technology, interactive arts, kinesiology, resource and environmental management

Friday p.m.: Faculty of Applied Sciences, including communication, interactive arts and technology and the Faculty of Education

Honorary degrees will be conferred on five distinguished individuals, including:

Douglas Coupland, novelist (Tues. p.m.)
Terry Snutch, molecular biologist (Wed. a.m.)
Marguerite Ford, former Vancouver city councillor (Wed. p.m.)
Eleanor Wachtel, writer and CBC broadcaster (Thurs. a.m.)
Larry Beasley, former Vancouver city planner (Thurs. p.m.)
