Rick Hansen will visit SFU’s Centre for Students with Disabilities and the School of Kinesiology on Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m. Later the same day he’ll receive an honorary degree from the university.
Hansen’s itinerary includes meeting with staff and students at the centre, followed by a tour of kinesiologist Max Donelan’s Locomotion Lab at 10:30 a.m. (The lab is located in room K8501 of the Shrum Science building.)
Donelan’s research team developed the biomechanical energy harvester, a wearable device that can generate electricity from the movement of muscles.
Hansen will join in the final spring Convocation ceremony (2:30 p.m.) He’ll receive an honorary degree and deliver a short speech prior to the procession of graduates from the faculties of applied sciences and education as they cross the stage in Convocation Mall.
