Want to get a taste of what our future education system will look like? Ever wondered what sustainability education could do for our economy, our environment and our society? Find out at the “How Sustainability Education? A Solutions Summit” where students, teachers, and administrators will work together to transform British Columbia’s education system to meet the needs of the climate change legislation, the emerging green economy and a sustainable society.
The day-long event happens on April 27 at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver and will include 150 educators, administrators and students from across B.C.
Janet Moore, assistant professor in Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Dialogue says “What we teach, what we don't teach, and how we teach are all considered when creating sustainability education. There is a need to create interactions between the many other organizations, networks, and governmental levels that are working toward common goals of climate action and sustainable development. This is what we intend to do at the summit and beyond."
Participants will redesign how B.C. students learn, what they will learn about and how they are engaged in the learning process.
The summit’s goal is to ensure that students are equipped to develop the solutions required for a sustainable and prosperous society. Participants will share best practices, work on innovative new models, and develop working partnerships across sectors.
This is the first event in B.C. designed to build teams of educators, administrators and students across the province to work together to develop strategic action plans.

Dear Janet,
congratulations for this initiative. I would love to take a plane from Brasil to be there on this meeting on Monday.
I would like to be involved in the developments of this Educational Forum because I am currently involved exactly in this issue. I am studying at an international level what each country proposes for the future of education hoping this can also help our government realize the urging need of change in our educational system/syllabus in Brasil.
thanks
Paola
