Blusson Hall, the home of Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Health Sciences at the Burnaby campus, will be one of many SFU spots featured on Living Vancouver in the New Year.

Jaeny Baik, the host of the half-hour local CBC television lifestyle show, was on campus just before Christmas to shoot links or bridges between stories for the show’s January 7 and 8, 2009 episodes.

Along with segment producer Wendy Vreeken and camera operator Brett Hyde, Baik roamed the campus getting on-camera-shots of herself talking about university life and collecting visuals that showcase SFU’s world-famous architecture. The trio explored the expansive and natural light-filled halls of Blusson Hall, SFU’s two new technology and sciences complexes, and toured the Academic Quadrangle’s Reflecting Pond.

For the January 7 show, Baik talked to Brian Corrie, technical director of SFU’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences (IRMACS), about the centre’s high-tech telecommunications capabilities.

For the January 8 show, Baik interviewed Corinne Chang, a first-year, mature student in the Integrated Studies Program at the downtown campus. Chang, a full-time working mother of two and a volunteer with Little League Baseball in B.C., will talk about how she juggles school, work and family.

Baik even used IRMACS’ technology to enhance her on-camera presence. Living Vancouver airs weekdays at 3 p.m. See www.cbc.ca/livingvancouver.
