Simon Fraser University’s students, staff and faculty must have made a great first impression last fall when Rick Mercer, star of CBC-TV’s hit comedy program The Rick Mercer Report, came to visit.  He’s coming back to SFU’s Burnaby campus on Monday, March 8 at 12:30 p.m.

Mercer will be in Convocation Mall to announce the winners of the national Spread the Net student fundraising challenge. The event is held in partnership with UNICEF Canada.

Mercer launched the third annual Spread the Net student challenge in September (2009) from SFU’s Burnaby campus and issued a challenge pitting West vs. East in a national student challenge.

Incentives for the top two fundraising schools include a personal visit from Mercer and a feature spot on his show.

Funds raised provide insecticide-treated bed nets to children in Liberia and Rwanda.
