University budgets are weathering some of the fallout of challenging economic times but that hasn’t stopped Simon Fraser University from clinching its fourth consecutive annual billing as one of Canada’s Top 100 employers.
Mediacorp Canada, the nation’s largest publisher of employment guides and periodicals, listed SFU as a 2011 winner in its Top 100 Employers competition, an editorial project it has been running for 11 years.
After reviewing the recruitment histories of more than 75,000 national employers nationally based on eight key performance areas, Mediacorp included SFU on a list of 12,500 candidates it invited to enter this competition.
Mediacorp lists a generous tuition subsidy for employees, intriguing new urban living options at UniverCity and a substantial retirement plan as some of the reasons why SFU is still one of Canada’s Top 100 employers.
For a complete rundown of SFU’s winning qualities see: http://www.eluta.ca/top-employer-sfu.
Each entry was graded on physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
The 2011 winners of the national competition are in an editorial supplement of The Globe and Mail Oct. 15. There results are also published on the job search website Eulta.ca.
