Simon Fraser University graduates will celebrate the completion of their degrees a little later this spring thanks to the two-week break during the 2010 Winter Olympics in February.

More than 3,600 students are eligible to take part in one of seven ceremonies that will run from Tuesday, June 15 to Friday, June 18. Ceremonies begin on each day at 9:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (with the exception of June 15, which has only one ceremony held in the afternoon).

During the ceremonies, honorary degrees will be conferred on biologist and activist Alexandra Morton (Weds. a.m.) former Liberal politician Gordon Gibson (Thurs. a.m.), retired RCMP commissioner Beverley Ann Busson (Thurs. p.m.) and Julio Montaner, director of the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (Friday a.m.).

The ceremonies will run as follows:

June 15, 2:30 p.m. Faculty of Business

June 16, 9:45 a.m. Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (Bachelor of General Studies degrees only)

June 16, 2:30 p.m. Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: Anthropology, Archaeology, Canadian Studies, First Nations, French, Gender Studies, History, Latin American Studies, Liberal Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Spanish, Women’s Studies

June 17, 9:45 a.m. Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: Economics, English, Linguistics, Philosophy, Public Policy, Urban Studies, World Literature

June 17, 2:30 p.m. Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences: Cognitive Science, Criminology, Gerontology, Humanities, International Studies, Math, Psychology, Statistics and Special Arrangements

June 18, 9:45 a.m. Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Environment, Faculty of Health Sciences

June 18, 2:30 p.m. Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, Faculty of Education
