SFU Board of Governors elects new chair and vice-chair

Longtime BC business leader Brandt Louie is the new chair of the SFU Board of Governors. Board member Patrice Pratt is vice-chair. The two were elected at the Board of Governors’ January meeting.

Louie is president of H.Y. Louie Co. and chairman and chief executive officer of London Drugs. He holds positions with a number of high profile organizations in BC including the Vancouver Board of Trade, the BC Business Council and the Vancouver Hospital Foundation. Louie personally leads London Drugs’ charity committee which oversees the company’s corporate contributions to health and wellness organizations, medical research, education and the arts.

Patrice Pratt, who has served as a board member since February 2000, is the director of staff development, administration and finance, for the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union. Pratt has served on the boards of directors of several community organizations, including the BC Medical Services Foundation and BC Hydro. She chaired the United Way of the Lower Mainland campaign in 2000/01 and is currently on the boards of the Vancouver Foundation and the SFU Foundation.

Louie and Pratt take over from Evaleen Jaager Roy, who has served as chair since 1999, and William (Bill) J.A. Rowe, who has served as vice-chair since 2000. Both Jaager Roy and Rowe will continue as board members.
