Canada is home to a diverse population with a changing sense of home. Senator Romeo Dallaire and Chief Robert Joseph will join First Nations, Métis, immigrant, refugee, senior and youth representatives as well as artists and researchers at SFU's Wosk Centre for Dialogue, 580 West Hastings St., Thursday, Feb. 22, (8:30 am-5 pm) to explore these new ideas of home through dialogue, personal reflection and plenary sessions.

The Finding Home: Belonging, Connection and Community event will focus on three themes:  Remember Home, exploring belonging and values; Dream Home, where Senator Dallaire will share his hope for the world (1 pm), and Create Home, aligning actions and values to create a home.

Jessie Sutherland, founder of the Finding Home initiative, says, "this is a unique opportunity to collaboratively learn about the meaning, creating and sustaining of home at personal and community levels.

“The arrival of new immigrants and refugees, the rise of poverty and homelessness, and the increase of violence and environmental stress are evident in Vancouver and many parts of Canada. We need a discussion on the values of home and we need innovative solutions."

This community dialogue is supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, United Way of the Lower Mainland, Ting Endowment Fund, The Vancouver Agreement, Vancouver Coastal Health, Ethical Funds, Simon Fraser University and the Settlement and Multiculturalism Division, Ministry of Attorney General.
