SFU's Board of Governors recently welcomed two new appointments: Nancy McKinstry, former Odlum Brown vice-president and member of the Order of Canada, and Barry Macdonald, a tax partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Vancouver. Both will serve three-year terms.
McKinstry is founder and chair of the Minerva Foundation for B.C. Women, which financially supports women in need to attain their educational goals. She received an honorary doctor of laws degree from SFU in 2004, and a Queen's Golden Jubilee medal in 2003.
Macdonald, a chartered accountant and certified public accountant, graduated from SFU with an arts degree in 1982. He is a past member of SFU's faculty of business administration dean's advisory council, and is a seasoned adviser to Canadian, American and Asian multinational clients on transfer pricing and international tax planning.
The Board of Governors is the senior governing body at Simon Fraser University and has overall responsibility for the business of the university, including property, revenue and policies. Board appointments are made by order of the Lieutenant Governor in council.
