Two campus chefs will go knife-to-knife for the title of Sustainable Iron Chef during Simon Fraser University's first-ever Cooking It Up Healthy food festival to be held Thursday, March 29 from 10 am to 3 pm in Convocation Mall at the Burnaby campus.

Starting at 1 pm, Dave Davis, executive chef of Chartwells Dining Services, and Colton Milliard, executive chef of the Simon Fraser Student Society Food and Beverage Services, will have just 30 minutes to transform conscience-friendly raw ingredients such as OceanWise-certified tuna and locally grown wild mushrooms into mouth-watering healthy meals.

In addition to the Iron Chef contest, the festival will include a Think Healthy, Think Local information fair with interactive booths offering local and organic food samples and opportunities to enter draws for restaurant meals and healthy food baskets.

The public is welcome to attend this free event sponsored by Sustainable SFU in collaboration with the university's Centre for Sustainable Community Development and Local Solutions. Simon Fraser University is one of the first post-secondary institutions in Canada to commit to increasing the amount of locally produced and sustainable food served on its three campuses.
