SFU President Michael Stevenson announced today that CMA Canada, the national organization of certified management accountants, is providing $1 million to fund the CMA Canada Centre for Strategic Change and Performance Measurement at Simon Fraser University’s new Segal Graduate School of Business.

"We are delighted to be involved in this close partnership in research and executive development with this important national professional organization," says Stevenson.

The research centre, one of six to be established at the Segal Graduate School of Business, will generate and disseminate new knowledge related to three themes: strategic change and its execution; strategic performance measurement; and leadership and change management.

"Our vision is to create an environment where organizational leaders can acquire the skills and knowledge they need to improve strategic performance initiatives and change management in their organizations," says Ernie Love, dean of SFU Business.

"CMA Canada recognizes that corporate change and performance measurement are pressing issues for many organizations," says Steve Vieweg, president and CEO of CMA Canada, which is a leader in forging partnerships with allied professional groups. "We have analysed the trends and forces reshaping organizations and realize there is much important research to be done in this area."

The Segal Graduate School of Business, western Canada’s only centre dedicated to graduate business education, will open in 2005 in a newly refurbished heritage building in downtown Vancouver.
