Imagine a future where your fridge, your sofa or even your clothes are aware of their environment and can interact with you. Where robots compete with humans in soccer’s World Cup. Where your identity online is as "real" as your physical identity.
Professors at Simon Fraser University's Surrey campus have been imagining this future. You can find out more about their ideas and visions at a free public lecture series that addresses how technology impacts people's lives. Audience members will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with the speakers, all distinguished faculty members in the school of interactive arts and technology.
Lecture topics include:
When the World Talks Back: Exploring the Future of Interactive Products on April 17 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm with Jim Budd;
RoboCup: 21st Century Robotics and Artificial Intelligence on April 29 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm with Vadim Kyrylov;
Augmenting Reality: Exploring the Future Museum Now on May 15 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm with Ron Wakkary; and
The Age of Virtuality: The Future of Identity, Community and Ownership on May 27 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm with Steve DiPaolo.
Anyone interested in participating in the lectures can call 604.291.5096 or email

All lectures will be held at Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus.
