SFU Business Executive MBA Team Rises to the Top

April 5, 2002
A two-minute elevator ride was all it took for an SFU Business executive MBA team led by Steve Parkhill to convince U.S. venture capitalists that the team’s aquaculture business plan was a winner.
The team placed among the top five in the annual Babcock elevator competition sponsored by Wake Forest University’s Babcock Graduate School of Management in North Carolina.
After the final two rounds of the competition, which included both a two-minute elevator pitch and a 30-minute question and answer session with venture capitalists, the SFU team’s "Hawaiian Halibut LLC" business plan was dubbed ‘most executable’ and received encouraging feedback regarding potential funding.
The SFU Business executive MBA team was the only Canadian university team to finish in the prestigious top five ranking, along with teams from Harvard, Cornell, Georgia and Wake Forest Universities. There were approximately 200 competition entries.
The SFU executive MBA program is based in Vancouver and is a part-time, two-year program for working managers/executives. For more information on the program, contact the executive MBA office at 604-291-5013, email:emba_program@sfu.ca or visit http://www.sfu.ca/emba.
