Official opening: SFU Segal Graduate School of Business

Simon Fraser University officially opens its Segal Graduate School of Business in a restored and renovated heritage bank building at 500 Granville St. (corner of Granville and Pender), Friday, May 5, at 10:30 am.

With the skirl of pipes, mace bearer and colourful robes, the academic procession is scheduled to leave at 10:25 am from the Seymour St. courtyard of the Wosk Centre for Dialogue (580 West Hastings St.). It will cross Seymour and Pender to a red carpet running along Pender to the Granville St. entrance. In the procession will be members of the world champion SFU pipe band, and the platform party including Lance Finch, Chief Justice of BC, Chuck Strahl, federal minister of agriculture, Colin Hansen, BC minister of economic development, Peter Ladner, acting deputy mayor and Michael Stevenson, president of the university.

The ceremony in the main hall of the Segal building will take approximately 30 minutes. A plaque will be unveiled at the conclusion of the event.
