Simon Fraser University is hosting a conference at its Harbour Centre campus during the 2004 national fair trade week. The conference and workshops will examine the issues that surround the adoption of ethical purchasing policies by public institutions. It will also shed light on how public institutions can effectively develop ethical purchasing policies.
The conference is especially timely as communities around British Columbia continue to call for business practices to be socially and environmentally responsible. Key players from across BC will come together to discuss their views with experts from both Canadian universities and businesses that have already implemented ethical purchasing policies.
Some of these universities include the University of Toronto and McMaster University. Speakers from these universities will share their practical business experience.
The conference begins with an evening plenary session on May 7, 2004 and carries on with a full day of workshops on May 8, 2004.
