May 9, 2002
For the second consecutive year, a team of SFU students has won the Management of Technology scholarship competition sponsored by the Chief Information Officers Association of BC (CIOABC). The $2000 scholarship recognizes BC graduate students who demonstrate outstanding creative abilities relating to management issues associated with technology.
Chuck McFarlane and Nika Piatkiewicz, students in the Management of Technology MBA program, won for their final project, "Branding Strategy For A High-Tech Company With Multiple Channel Partners And Segments."
The project was so well done that the company for which they produced it plans to implement the recommendations.
"The CIO Association scholarship rewards students who apply clear thinking and strategic analysis to interesting problems," says Blaize Horner Reich, associate dean of SFU BUSINESS. "The MOT MBA program gave Chuck and Nika the analytical tools to create a very innovative solution for a Vancouver company – their market analysis and research identified a clear and concise branding strategy for the company to execute."
Both students have completed their MOT MBA and are now working for Vancouver high tech firms as market analysts.
