June 5, 2006
University of Toronto professor of pediatric medicine Nancy Olivieri will examine the role and responsibility of clinical researchers during Simon Fraser University’s third President’s Forum, to be held Wednesday, June 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue.

The free public event, hosted by SFU president Michael Stevenson, is designed to encourage conversation between leading thinkers and the public on important social, economic, educational and political issues.

Olivieri, who will receive an honorary degree on June 9 during SFU’s spring Convocation, will explore alternatives to industry-funded clinical research trials and mechanisms necessary to protect research subjects in an era of corporate science.

The public is welcome, but pre-registration is required. To reserve a space, download the RSVP form at www.sfu.ca/presidentsforum/PresForum_Olivieri_June7.pdf or call 604.268.7925.
