Vancouver Foundation awards $20,000 to SFU’s Imagine BC program

Simon Fraser University’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue has received $20,000 from Vancouver Foundation to support Imagine BC: Dialogues on the Future of British Columbia.
This five-year flagship program brings together leaders from diverse sectors in the province to consider BC's possible futures 30 years out. This year’s series of community dialogues focuses on the relationship between economic prosperity and environmental sustainability.
Now in its second year, Imagine BC “has demonstrated that when experts in different sectors interact with concerned citizens through dialogue, they are capable of developing imaginative and thoughtful responses to complex public problems,” says Joanna Ashworth, director of dialogue programs, continuing studies.
Vancouver Foundation’s funding will support five regional dialogues in Kitimat/Terrace/Prince Rupert, the Sea-to-Sky corridor, Duncan/Cowichan Valley, South Okanagan, and Abbotsford. Discussions will focus on the future of each community, and the various local, regional and global conditions and contexts that will impact that particular community.
Imagine BC also receives support from founding sponsor North Growth Foundation, as well as B.C.’s Ministry of Community Services, Western Economic Diversification, and CBC Radio One.
Vancouver Foundation is a non-governmental community foundation that operates primarily as a permanent collection of endowed funds, which support the activities of charitable organizations across BC. Through its charitable work, Vancouver Foundation provides philanthropic leadership to improve the quality of life for all British Columbians.
