A new tenure-track faculty position in Simon Fraser University's department of history means growth for the university's Hellenic studies program. The creation of the position in Byzantine history is “the culmination of excellent cooperation between the university and the private sector,” says John Pierce, the dean of the faculty of arts and social sciences.

“We are expanding Hellenic studies,” says Pierce, “because it is one of the most successful inter-disciplinary programs at Simon Fraser University and has brought considerable assets and academic strength to our institution.”
