It's an alumni dream - the perks of living in residence without any of the essays, quizzes and midterms. At Simon Fraser University, tourists and wistful alumni alike can check into the brand new hotel, The Simon, on top of the Burnaby Mountain campus.

Of course, the hotel's 14 luxurious rooms are a step up from dorm living, but hotel guests are still staying in the heart of the university where they can elevate their experience and taste campus life at its best - and of course enjoy those spectacular views. The rates for these three star rooms will start at $85.

The Simon is part of a recent capital project at SFU that has also seen the construction of new residences and the dining hall. The new dining hall is the first of its kind at SFU and can comfortably seat 350. It offers a much bigger variety of international and alternative cuisine as well as the student mainstay of burgers and pastas. Even these traditional favourites have a healthy, creative twist. Today's students are more discerning and the new updated eatery reflects that change.

The new residences provide accommodation for 478 students. The current overall campus population is more than 25,000. The recent renovations will cost an estimated $42 million and this is the first addition to the residences in 10 years. The university will celebrate its 40th birthday in 2005.

From May to August there will be more than 750 guest rooms as well as a number of meeting rooms available at the residences for conferences and visiting sports teams.
