The SSHRC Gold Medal for Achievement in Research, valued at $100,000, will be presented to an outstanding Canadian whose research in the social sciences or humanities has advanced academic understanding, enriched Canadian society and contributed to the country's cultural and intellectual life.

During the ceremony, SSHRC will also honour several emerging researchers who have demonstrated exemplary originality and insight in their respective fields.

SSHRC is an independent federal government agency that funds university-based research and graduate training in the social sciences and humanities. SSHRC-funded research helps Canadians improve their quality of life and compete in a rapidly changing world.
