Simon Fraser University has a new registrar. Kathleen (Kate) Ross takes on the role and that of senior director of student enrolment, effective Jan. 22, 2007.

Ross has been the registrar and director, student services, at Victoria’s Camosun College since 2000. At SFU, she succeeds Nello Angerilli, associate VP-students & international, who has been acting as interim registrar since October, when Ron Heath retired after 22 years in the position.

“Kate is a knowledgeable and skilled individual who has worked in the post-secondary arena in British Columbia for the past 20 years, and in a leadership role for the past 16 years,” says Angerilli.

At Camosun College, Ross served in a variety of positions including director of cooperative education and acting executive director of human resources. As registrar, she managed the implementation of new software support systems for student services and enhanced enrolment management.

A native of Glengarry County near Alexandria, Ontario, Ross has a master-of-arts degree in leadership from Royal Roads University and a bachelor-of-arts degree in recreation administration from the University of Alberta.

This fall, she enrolled in SFU’s Ed.D. program and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in educational leadership.
