Eyes on the environment
Defending Canada
How do I love thee?

Eyes on the environment
Tomorrow’s provincial throne speech is expected to be heavy on the environment with a new plan and anticipated crackdown on greenhouse gas polluters. SFU energy expert Mark Jaccard has studied the issues extensively and can provide reaction to the government’s approach. Also see our list of SFU experts on the environment at: http://www.sfu.ca/mediapr/news_releases/issues_experts/issues_experts_archives_2003/issues01310702.htm

Defending Canada
Canadian-American security issues will take centre stage later this week as experts meet in Ottawa for the annual conference of defence associations on Feb. 15 and 16. SFU political scientist Alexander Moens will attend the event and share his views on security problems, political changes and their implications for Canada-U.S. cooperation, as well as what policy decisions should be pursued. Participants, including several former military and defence leaders, will also focus on how Canada can best be protected from terrorism and natural disasters.

How do I love thee?
For views on that ageless subject, there will be Poems to Love: Songs and poems for Valentine's Day on Feb. 14 (12 noon) at Simon Fraser University's Vancouver campus, 515 West Hastings Street. It's an hour of music and poetry with Joy Coghill, Stephen Aberle and Ya-Wen Wang, directed by Pamela Hawthorne. The free event is a co-production of SFU women's studies, English and contemporary arts, with the Western Gold Theatre Company.
