New year, new challenges in China
New year and new challenges in China…David Carlson, a 20-year-old Simon Fraser University student, is part of the first cohort of Canadian students studying computing science in SFU's unique dual-degree program with one of China's leading post-secondary institutions, Zhejiang University. Carlson is home in Vancouver during the Chinese New Year holiday and is available for interviews about his experience living and studying — completely in Mandarin — while in China. Before arriving in China eight months ago, Carlson had never spoken a word of Mandarin. It's been a challenging and sometimes overwhelming experience, he says, but also rich and "life-altering".
