Climate change: now and later
Teachers upset over new registry
Psychology — off the couch

Climate change: now and later
On April 6, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will release its next report. It will provide a comprehensive analysis of how climate change is affecting natural and human systems, what the impacts will be in the future and how far adaptation and mitigation can reduce these impacts. The report also contains chapters on specific systems, sectors and regions. The following SFU researchers are available to comment on the findings:

Mark Jaccard, Resource and Environmental Management, 604.291.4219, jaccard@sfu.ca
Tim Takaro, Health Sciences, 604.268.7186, ttakaro@sfu.ca

Teachers upset over new registry
B.C. teachers are not happy with the government's new teacher disciplinary registry that will publicly name teachers who have been disciplined. But what effect will this have on long-term teacher-government relations and negotiations? SFU education professor Dan Laitsch has been following the long-strained relations between the B.C. Teachers Federation and the provincial government and can comment on the new registry.

Psychology — off the couch
Multi-tasking, such as driving and talking on a cell-phone or doing homework while watching television, is something we all do, but should we? Multi-tasking is just one of many hot-topic issues that SFU cognitive psychologists Mark Blair, Anthony Herdman and John McDonald can speak about. The three will give their insights at the kick-off session of SFU's Psych in the City series, Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. in Room 2600 at SFU's Surrey campus. Other topics in the four-part series are forensic psychology (April 11), developmental psychology (April 18) and social psychology (April 25).
