Sweeping raid on bikers
Police have raided nearly 40 locations targeting Hell’s Angels members in Ontario and two other provinces. The busts are the result of 18 months of investigation into biker activity under an operation dubbed Project Develop. Robert Gordon, director of SFU’s school of criminology, can comment on the raids’ significance.

Climate change report sounds new alarm
Severe flooding, loss of species and devastation for ecosystems are among the grim predictions of international scientists’ latest report on the effects of global warming, to be released Friday. The latter spells further bad news for coral reef fisheries, according to a new study, which has found more than half of coral reef island fisheries are being exploited unsustainably. Isabelle Côté, a professor of tropical marine ecology at SFU, and co-author of the study published this week in Current Biology, can talk about global warming’s impact on reef health.
