Deadly day in Afghanistan
Deadly day in Afghanistan
It’s being called Canada’s worst day in battle since the Korean War: six Canadian soldiers killed in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan on the weekend.
SFU military expert Andre Gerolymatos says, “this is something that we should, unfortunately, get used to, because NATO does not have enough troops to cover the entire country, and this will be the case until the Americans make Afghanistan a priority.”
Doug McArthur in SFU’s public policy program has made several trips to the country, where he has been working with government officials on developing parliamentary processes. He says more serious attention to the country’s development issues is critically needed.
