Timothy Smith, president of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C., will speak at SFU's Burnaby campus Monday, March 26 on what we can do about global warming. The public lecture, presented by the schools of engineering science and resource and environmental management, is at 4:30 pm in AQ 3182. Smith's lecture Global warming: are you aware and ready? is based on the science behind An Inconvenient Truth, the Oscar-winning documentary featuring Al Gore, former U.S. congressman, senator, vice president and presidential winner-but-loser. Smith, a geoscientist specializing in slope-hazard assessment, geotechnical investigations and risk analysis, will discuss what global warming is and how individuals and corporations can help reduce the rate and effects of climate change.
