January 11, 2007
The Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia will accept nominations until Feb. 7 for the Academic of the Year and Career Achievement awards in April. The awards recognize B.C. university faculty whose academic research or scholarly activity has contributed to the non-academic community. Previous SFU recipients include anthropologist and linguist Marianne Ignace (above) for her work preserving and teaching aboriginal languages; and biologist Mark Winston for his efforts to explain science and research to the public. For nomination forms or tickets for the award presentation on April 11 see www.cufa.bc.ca/award.
