New registrar confirmed
January 11, 2007
SFU's board of governors has approved Kathleen (Kate) Ross as the university's new registrar and senior director of student enrollment, effective Jan. 22. Ross has been the registrar and director, student services, at Victoria's Camosun College since 2000. She succeeds Nello Angerilli, associate VP-students & international, who has been interim registrar since October 2006, when Ron Heath retired after 22 years in the position.
Her responsibilities include providing leadership and management for recruitment, admissions, registration, student records, front-counter services, commencement and other administrative academic services.
“Kate is a knowledgeable and skilled individual who has worked in the post-secondary arena in British Columbia for the past 20 years, and in a leadership role for the past 16 years,” says Angerilli. “Her references were unanimous that she is a well-regarded individual, respected by senior administration, by her staff and by the faculty and academic leaders of the college. We're confident she will apply those qualities effectively at SFU and we very much look forward to her arrival.”
A native of Glengarry County near Alexandria, Ontario, Ross has a master of arts degree in leadership from Royal Roads University and a bachelor of arts degree
in recreation administration from the University of Alberta. This fall, she enrolled in SFU's Ed.D. program where she is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership.
