A $100,000 gift from Flag Chevrolet owners Sherrold and Marina Haddad will support a 100-seat lecture theatre at SFU Surrey and also doubles the value of an SFU Surrey lectureship in mental health and addiction research.

The lecture program, established by the Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society, brings an internationally recognized expert to share research findings at SFU and speak at community forums throughout the Fraser Valley.

"We were thrilled when we learned that SFU was establishing a university right here in Surrey and wanted to play a role in helping the university thrive," says Marina Haddad. "We jumped at the opportunity to provide a home for education in such a fantastic building that is so well integrated into the existing community."
