SFU’s Continuing Studies management and professional programs unit is offering the following two three-hour career-transition workshops this semester at both the Surrey and Vancouver (Harbour Centre) campuses:

Scaling Up — Early/Mid-Career Transitions: Surrey, Saturday March 15, 10 am – 1 pm; Vancouver, Monday April 7, 6–9 pm. Fee: $50 for SFU staff and faculty.

In this workshop, reflect on your career and learn to proactively manage it. Begin by aligning your personal and professional goals and benchmarking your skills to/against those of people you admire. Learn what it takes to move your career to the next level by identifying industry and organizational trends and expectations. Leave the workshop with a success strategy that will position you for the next stage of your career.

Scaling Down — Late Career Transitions and Early Retirement: Surrey, Saturday March 29, 10 am – 1 pm; Vancouver, Thursday April 10, 6–9 pm. Fee: $50 for SFU staff and faculty.

This workshop will help you develop a strategy for fully integrating your career with the rest of your life. Begin by reflecting on your current career/life situation, identifying what is working for you and what is not. Learn to take charge of your career, making informed decisions that will position you to live a life you will love. Whether you choose to retire from work, become self-employed, work part-time or reposition your career and work full-out for many years to come, proactive career management will help ensure that this next stage of your life is both satisfying and purposeful.
