Lessons for living sustainably begin in school. That's the message from the newly-formed BC Network and Working Group on Sustainability Education, spearheaded by Janet Moore, an assistant professor with SFU's undergraduate semester in dialogue.

The group, launched as part of the United Nations' Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2015), brings together representatives from government, industry, education, and non-governmental organizations across B.C., with the goal of educating all students about how to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

As part of its mandate, the group is helping to organize a series of public forums across the province. The first, scheduled for Saturday, March 31 at SFU's Wosk Centre for Dialogue in Vancouver, will help educators learn ways to incorporate sustainability themes into courses and programs. The group will also make recommendations for curriculum and policy development.
