It has only been open two months, but business is humming along nicely at SFU's only Burnaby campus bank—the Scotiabank UniverCity branch in the Cornerstone building. "We're doing better than we expected at this point with our whole range of services, from new accounts to mortgages," says personal banking manager Lorrie Bishop. The boutique-style branch was designed to meet the needs of faculty, staff and UniverCity residents, with extended hours Tues. to Fri. 12-7 pm and Sats. 9 am-3 pm.

"Along with servicing the community's routine transactions through our automated banking machine," she says, "we provide expert advice and assistance with everything from borrowing solutions, investing and personal financial planning to will and estate planning. For students, we have visa cards, personal lines of credit, savings programs and money management tools." Scotiabank has four ATM machines on campus: one in the AQ, two in the Maggie Benston Student Service Centre and one in West Mall Centre.
