The Gerontology Research Centre (GRC) is looking for nominations for its 2008 Gerontology Senior Leadership award, which recognizes B.C. seniors’ volunteerism in education, social activism and community service related to aging.

“With people living longer and healthier lives, later life is becoming a time of meaningful, purposeful civic engagement,” says GRC research associate Lillian Zimmerman. “Given the increased demand for health, social and other services that goes along with an aging population, it is important to recognize the contributions that seniors themselves are making to these fields.”

Letters of nomination summarizing the activities of any B.C. resident 65 or older who has provided exemplary service on behalf of their peers will be accepted until April 10, 2008 at the Gerontology Research Centre, 2800–515 W. Hastings, Vancouver, B.C., V5B 5K3. More: 778.782.5062.
