SFU has signed an agreement with Surrey Campus Residences Corporation (SCRC) to build a 530-bed student residence one block from the university’s Surrey campus, at 10th Avenue and Whalley Ring Road. The project’s first phase, a 13-storey tower, should be finished by 2010. No completion date has been set for the second phase. SCRC will build and operate the residence according to SFU student residence policies. “We’re looking forward to this addition,” says campus director Joanne Curry. “Students living in residence add to the vitality and diversity of the university community.”

Correction: March 17, 2008

The original print and online version of this story incorrectly stated that the new Surrey student residence should be finished by 2010. In fact, only the first phase of the residence, a 13-storey tower, should be completed by then.
