Brandt Louie will serve a second three-year term as SFU’s chancellor following his re-election by acclamation earlier this month. His first term ends June, 2008.
Louie, president of H.Y. Louie and chairman and CEO of London Drugs, has been a member of SFU’s board of governors since 2000. He served as board chair from 2002 until he began his first term as chancellor in 2005.
The Vancouver-born business leader and philanthropist also chaired SFU’s 40th Anniversary Reaching New Heights campaign, which raised more $150 million ($25 million over the campaign goal).
The university chancellor serves as chair of convocation, at which he or she confers all degrees, and as a member of senate and the board of governors. One of the university’s chief ambassadors, the chancellor often represents the university within the larger community.
