Mark Jaccard, an economist and SFU professor of resource and environmental management, ranks 13th on the Financial Post Business magazine's Hot 20 Climate Change Power List of people influencing the debate on climate change. "Get to know them (the list members) and you'll get to know where the country is heading," says the Post. A former chair of the B.C. Utilities Commission, Jaccard is currently an appointee to the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE), examining and advising on the environmental and economic implications of issues brought to the NRTEE. The Post says Jaccard's position on global warming is that it can be addressed without abandoning carbon-based fuels by using proven technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels.
