SFU chemist makes Top 40 Under 40 list
May 17, 2007
SFU chemistry professor Neil Branda has been named one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40, a national program that celebrates people who have achieved great success before turning 40.
A Canada Research Chair in materials science, Branda is Canada's foremost expert in molecular switching, a branch of materials science that uses light, electricity or other stimuli to change a molecule's structure and thereby control its properties.
As molecular systems director at SFU's new $40-million 4D LABS complex, Branda works with interdisciplinary research teams to fast-track the four Ds — design, development, demonstration and delivery — of new materials and nanoscale technologies.
Branda is the tenth SFU alumni or faculty member to make the prestigious annual list since it was founded in 1995 by the Caldwell Partners executive search firm.
